Parish Nurse Ministry

The Parish Nurses are Registered Nurses who combine their medical knowledge with their love of Jesus to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual and mental health of the whole person both within the congregation and the community. They are available for blood pressure checks, give simple health counseling, and referrals and maintain first aid kits around the church and the AED unit.

Angel Care Team

Member volunteers "angels" are paired with an elderly member, "Care Partner" who are unable to join in church in person. Angels regularly contact their care partner by visiting, sending cards, calling, praying, delivering special holiday gifts and communicating with family as necessary.

Medical Equipment Borrowing Closet

The parish nurses maintain a medical equipment closet for anyone with special needs after an illness or surgery. The equipment includes a variety of walkers, canes, shower chairs, wheelchairs, and more.

Spiritual Care

The parish nurses distribute prayer shawls and altar flowers, maintain a prayer chain, conduct grief ministry, coordinate a meal for families returning home from the hospital.

Health Promotion

Health education is promoted with posters and articles for the monthly newsletter. Blood pressures are monitored monthly or by request. CPR and AED training is coordinated.
